Surprise US hit Zombieland debuts in second place with an impressive £1.2m, while Ricky Gervais comedy The Invention of Lying also hits the seven-figure mark but slips one position to third in its second week. Meanwhile Fame - which had occupied the top spot for the past two weeks - drops three places to fourth, while two other new releases - Jennifer Aniston romance Love Happens and Rob Zombie rehash sequel Halloween II - could only manage fifth and sixth respectively.
After losing 3D screens to Pixar the past couple of weeks, children's book adaptation Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs has been sliding down the chart and finishes seventh after slipping three places. Also down three places are sci-fi thrillers Surrogates and District 9 (which nows has the higgest overall gross in the current chart), while rom-com (500) Days of Summer drops one spot to finish tenth.
Also receiving a limited release was Shane Meadows' mockumentary Le Donk and Scor-zay-zee, which was filmed in just 5 days and pulled in £25,366 from 33 screens. Be sure to check back on Thursday when we'll have a review of the film and a Q&A that was held in Sheffield with Meadows, Paddy Considine and Mark Herbert.
