US Box Office - Breaking Dawn enjoys a $30m midnight opening

Early Friday numbers report 30 million dollars in midnight shows for the latest Twilight film – The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 at theaters around the U.S. and while this may be a trigger for the forthcoming apocalypse, the movie is on track to end up near the $70 million mark for Friday. With the American Thanksgiving weekend next week, the film could end up passing 200 million dollars in just over a week.

These freakishly large numbers show the fanbase for this series has not been deterred by negative reviews and a strong backlash from the online community who seems unable to logic just how these supernatural soap operas continue to be a license to print money.

Stay tuned for a full U.S. box office projection later this weekend...
