With the arrival of the 3D converted Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace creeping up fast, Lucasfilm have debuted five new posters for the re-release, which in all honesty are about as inspiring as the opening chapter of the Star Wars saga itself. Take a look at here...
It was way back in September 2010 when the news first broke that George Lucas was adding an extra dimension his baby, with in-house VFX specialists Industrial Light & Magic given the responsibility of converting all six chapters of the saga into 3D. First out of the gate is The Phantom Menace this February, with Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi slated to follow across subsequent years.
The 3D re-release of The Phantom Menace comes just months after the arrival of the Blu-ray versions of the Star Wars saga. There is of course a new generation of young Star Wars fans who have grown up with The Clone Wars television series and for them, it will mark the first opportunity to see their heroes on the big screen. So, despite Episode I being the most critcally derided of the series, the 3D re-release should go on to push the 1999 prequel beyond the $1 billion mark at the global box office, with the film currently standing on $924m world-wide.
The Phantom Menace stars Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson, Jake Lloyd, Ahmed Best and Ian McDiarmid, and is set to arrive on February 9th (UK) and February 10th (North America).
