Reboot 'specialist' Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th) turns his hand to the sword and sorcery genre with Conan the Barbarian, a new take on Robert E. Howard's Cimmerian warrior that promises to deliver an interpretation more faithful to its original source material. Set to arrive later this summer, the film sees Jason Momoa (Stargate: Atlantis, Game of Thrones) picking up the reigns from Arnold Schwarzenegger, who of course portrayed the character in 1982's cult classic and its subsequent sequel Conan the Destroyer (1984), and sees Conan journeying across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village.

Conan the Barbarian is set for a 3D release on August 19th and also stars Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Saïd Taghmaoui and Ron Perlman.
