When your last movie was inundated with critical acclaim and grossed over a billion dollars world-wide, the question of where to go next must surely be the stuff of nightmares. Fortunately, with a resume that includes the likes of Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige and The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan seems up to the challenge.
His next effort, the $160m-budgeted sci-fi thriller Inception, is set for release this summer and features a strong cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Lukas Haas, Tom Hardy and Tom Berenger along with Batman alumni Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe and Michael Caine.
The synopsis (which is about as much as I'd like to know about the film at this point) goes something like this: "In a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a single idea within one's mind can be the most dangerous weapon or the most valuable asset." Sounds good, and looks even better...
