Winner of the Golden Lion Award at the 2009 Venice Film Festival and championed by Ang Lee, Lebanon is an Israeli war movie based on writer-director Samuel Maoz's own experiences as a soldier during the 1982 Lebanon War.
The film tells the story of a young Israeli tank crew charged with searching a hostile town that has already been bombarded by the Air Force. When they are ordered to use phosphorus grenades forbidden by international law, the men must battle to retain their humanity amid the chaos of war.
Lebanon (cert. 15) is released in the UK on May 14th.
