It's one small step for man in the teaser for Transformers: Dark of the Moon

The Autobots will roll out once again for the third installment of Michael Bay's live-action Transformers series in July of 2011 with the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and the first official 'announcement trailer' has been unveiled this week. In a move reminescent of the original movie's Mars-set teaser, the two and a half minute clip recreates the Apollo 11 moon landing as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stumble upon a crashed Cybertronian spaceship and ends with the awakening of a Transformer, who just happens to sport a very familiar looking beard (while I'm hoping for Unicron, Bay has already announced Shockwave as the film's main villain).

Transformers: Dark of the Moon sees the return of Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Ramón Rodríguez, Kevin Dunn and Julie White, along with newcomers John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who of course replaces the outgoing Megan Fox as Sam's love interest.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is set for a 3D release on July 1st, 2011.
