The Hunt for Gollum posterThe Hunt for Gollum, 2009.

Written and Directed by Chris Bouchard.
Starring Adrian Webster, Arin Alldridge, Patrick O'Connor, Rita Ramnani, Gareth Brough and Max Bracey.

Produced on a budget of £3000, The Hunt for Gollum is an unofficial fan film inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and utilising the visual interpretation of Middle-earth created by director Peter Jackson for his blockbuster movie trilogy.

Set during the early period of The Fellowship of the Ring, the 38-minute short sees Gandalf (Patrick O'Connor) meeting with Aragorn (Adrian Webster) in the Prancing Pony, where the wizard explains his concerns that Gollum may reveal information to Sauron about the whereabouts of the One Ring. Aragorn sets off to track and capture Gollum but before he can interrogate the creature he is attacked by Orc soldiers, who have joined the hunt along with the dreaded Nazgûl.

Receiving its premiere at the Sci-Fi-London film festival, The Hunt for Gollum was released online in May 2009 and has since enjoyed over 7 million views. The ambitious short has been extremely well-received, with particular praise reserved for its impressive visuals and SFX work, and is generally regarded as one of the best-quality fan films ever made.
