Duncan Jones follows up Moon with Source Code

Director Duncan Jones is set to follow up his debut feature Moon with another sci-fi thriller entitled Source Code, set for release in April 2011. Source Code stars Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Zodiac) as a soldier who becomes part of an experimental government programme that sees him investigating a terror attack on a train by reliving the incident over and over again. Joining Gyllenhaal in the cast are Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air), Michelle Monaghan (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale), Michael Arden (Bride Wars) and stand-up comic Russell Peters.

"On this one I've got four really talented actors - Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright. It's a new test, a new experience... [Gyllenhaal plays] a military man who wakes up on a train not knowing how he got there. Before he gets a chance to work it out, things change in such a dramatic way, he doesn't know whether the train's real or not... When it was brought to me it was serious, quite cerebral, dark and depressing, My take was, 'This could actually be quite fun...'" - Duncan Jones on Source Code.

The folks over at Scriptshadow reviewed the screenplay by Ben Ripley (Species III) back in 2009 and were mighty impressed (you can read the screenplay here) and judging by the new trailer Source Code will be one to look out for in 2011. Check it out...

In my opinion Moon was one of the finest films of 2009 (if you haven't seen it, go and watch it right now), so naturally I'm really excited for this one.
