Edward Norton in talks to play The Bourne Legacy’s villain

Edward Norton (Fight Club, The Incredible Hulk) is in negotiations to appear in the reboot of the Bourne franchise. The Bourne Legacy will star Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town) as the series’ new protagonist Martin. The fourth film is going ahead without the involvement of Matt Damon as Jason Bourne or Paul Greengrass directing.

Norton looks set to play the villain in the film, joining Renner and also Rachel Weisz (The Fountain, Constantine), whose character will be Martin’s love interest. Tony Gilroy, who wrote the screenplays for all of the previous Bourne films and directed Michael Clayton and Duplicity, will write and direct the film.

Edward Norton is currently filming Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom alongside Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray and Harvey Keitel. The Bourne Legacy is expected to start shooting in the Autumn and open in cinemas on August 3rd 2012.
