First trailer for the Batman: Year One animated movie

As if it isn't exciting enough for Batman fans at the moment with Christopher Nolan busy shooting the final installment of his trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. have released the first trailer for their upcoming animated adaptation of Frank Miller and Dave Mazzuchelli's classic 1987 story arc, Batman: Year One.

Falling under their DC Universe Animated Original Movies line, Year One recounts Bruce Wayne's early forays into crime-fighting and the forging of a partnership with Gotham City's only honest cop, Jim Gordon. The adaptation is directed by Sam Lui (The Batman, Thor: Tales of Asgard) and Lauren Montgomery (Superman/Batman Apocalypse, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights), and features the voice talents of Benjamin McKenzie (Bruce Wayne / Batman), Bryan Cranston (Jim Gordon), Eliza Dushku (Selina Kyle / Catwoman) and Katee Sackhoff (Sarah Essen).

Take a look at the trailer...

It was also revealed earlier in the week that Batman: Year One would include a 15-minute short entitled Catwoman, with the feline fatale squaring off against a newly created character, the mob boss Rough Cut.

Batman: Year One is set for release in North America on October 18th, with a UK date yet to be announced.

Holy Franchise, Batman! - Coming 2012.
