Djimon Hounsou and Rufus Sewell set their sights on Paradise Lost

Rufus SewellDjimon Hounsou (Gladiator, Blood Diamond) will be appearing in Alex Proyas’ upcoming film Paradise Lost and there are reports that Rufus Sewell (A Knight’s Tale, The Tourist) is set to star as well. The two actors would join Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, The A-Team) and Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers), whose roles have previously been announced.

The film is based on the classic 17th century poem by John Milton. Its story follows fallen angel Lucifer (Cooper), who is cast out of Heaven and then starts a war with his brother, the archangel Michael (Walker). Hounsou will play Abdiel, the angel of death, but Sewell’s part is as yet unknown.

Director Alex Proyas worked with Rufus Sewell previously on the 1998 sci-fi Dark City. Shooting is due to begin on Paradise Lost later this year. Djimon Hounsou can next be seen in Special Forces with Diane Kruger. Rufus Sewell has recently finishing filming on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter along with Benjamin Walker, Alan Tudyk and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and will next be working on The Sea with Rosamund Pike and Ciarán Hinds.
