Joe Johnston to direct Jurassic Park 4... and a Boba Fett movie?

Joe Johnston has been out promoting the release of Captain America: The First Avenger and during an interview with Screen Rant the director dropped a couple of nuggets of information about possibilities for his upcoming slate.

First up comes the rather familiar line that discussions are currently ongoing for Jurassic Park 4, the long rumoured fourth installment of the dinosaur franchise launched by Steven Spielberg back in 1993. Johnston of course took over directorial duties for the third entry and since the release of Jurassic Park III in 2001 there has been plenty of talk that he would helm a new trilogy; with news last month that Spielberg is brainstorming ideas with screenwriter Mark Protosevich (Thor), could a fourth outing in Jurassic Park finally be on the cards? It's certainly overdue, and providing that Johnston sticks to his promise of going in a different direction, Universal will likely have a sure-fire hit on their hands.

Along with a return to Jurassic Park, Johnston also mentioned that he has another project he'd like to work on with a former collaborator, George Lucas: "I'm trying to get him to make a feature based on Boba Fett... I would like to [direct], it would be a lot of fun." Johnston has plenty of previous experience in the Star Wars universe - having worked on A New Hope (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return of the Jedi (1983), The Ewok Adventure (1984), Ewoks: Battle for Endor (1985) and Droids (1985) - and while I'm sure there are plenty who'd like to see a Boba Fett movie, I'd be surprised to see this one come to pass.

Captain America: The First Avenger is released in North America on Friday, and arrives here in the UK on the 29th.
