Shia LaBeouf (Transformers, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) has been cast in the political action thriller The Company You Keep. Voltage Pictures and Wildwood Enterprises are backing the film, which is based on the novel by American author Neil Gordon.
Robert Redford will direct and star in the film, which tells the story of a former Weather Underground militant (Redford) who has been wanted by the FBI for 30 years. When his identity is exposed by a young and ambitious reporter (LaBeouf), he is forced to go on the run and there is a nationwide manhunt for him, with the reporter chasing his story. This will be Redford’s first role since Lions for Lambs in 2007, another political thriller he also directed.
The script is being written by Lem Dobbs (Haywire, Dark City). Redford, Bill Holderman and Nicolas Chartier will produce and the film is currently in pre-production, with shooting set to start in Vancouver in September.
Shia LaBeouf has just finished working on John Hillcoat’s The Wettest County in the World, a crime drama also starring Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Mia Wasikowska and Guy Pearce, which is due for release in December.
