The critically acclaimed espionage thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy continues to lead the UK box office chart for the third week in a row, pulling in £1.06m to push its total towards £10m and remain top of the pile in what proved to be a thoroughly disappointing weekend for British cinemas. The nearest competition came from the Taylor Lautner / Lily Collins thriller Abduction, which banked £900k to take second in its opening weekend, while another newcomer - The Phantom of the Opera (25th Anniversary Concert) - claimed third with an impressive £550k.
Along with Abduction and Phantom, three other new faces appear in the top ten this week, with spy thriller The Debt performing best as it pulls in £417k to claim fifth place behind Crazy, Stupid, Love. Hot on the heels of The Debt is Shark Night 3D in sixth with £416k, while the Anna Faris / Chris Evans comedy What's Your Number? debuts in ninth with £320k. Meanwhile The Inbetweeners Movie and Drive slip three spots apiece to seventh and eighth respectively, while the Tom Hardy / Joel Edgerton MMA actioner Warrior looks about ready to throw in the towel after tumbling seven places to prop up the chart in tenth.
