Video: Terence Davies discusses his inspiration for The Deep Blue Sea

The Deep Blue SeaAs the launch of the 55th London Film Festival approaches, the British Film Institute have just released their latest preawareness video, this time featuring director Terence Davies discussing his inspiration for The Deep Blue Sea, which will close the festival on October 27th.

The Deep Blue Sea stars Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener, Page Eight), Tom Hiddleston (War Horse, The Avengers) and Simon Russell Beale (Spooks, Bond 23). Set in the 1950s, the film tells the story of Hester Collier (Weisz), the wife of a High Court judge (Beale), who finds herself falling for a young RAF pilot (Hiddleston). After walking out on her marriage to be with her lover, Hester comes to realise that the dashing but damaged pilot is unable to return her all-consuming passion, just as she is unable to return her husband's love.

Take a look at what Davies has to say about the film...
