Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace team up for Dead Man Down

Colin Farrell (Phone Booth, Alexander) is set to star opposite Noomi Rapace (The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, Prometheus) in a new action thriller called Dead Man Down, which is due to start shooting early next year. The $30m film will see Rapace re-team with Niels Arden Oplev, the director of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, in which she played Lisbeth Salander.

Farrell plays a gangster called Victor, who works for an underground crime lord in New York City. He is seduced and blackmailed by a woman named Beatrice (Rapace) who is looking for revenge after becoming the victim of a crime.

The screenplay has been written by J.H. Wyman, who writes and executive produces the sci-fi TV series Fringe. Dead Man Down’s producer, Neal H. Moritz (I Am Legend, Fast & Furious), is currently working on the Total Recall remake with Farrell and said in a statement: “I could not be any more excited about Dead Man Down and the team we have assembled. Wyman has written a terrific script, Colin and Noomi are perfect casting and Niels is a truly gifted filmmaker.”

Noomi Rapace can next be seen in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows opposite Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, which is released in the UK on December 16th. Total Recall, starring Colin Farrell, will be out next August.
